He Wrote in Sand and Stone

Why did the Lord write in the sand
The judgment men had sought Him for
That the wind might erase it as
It was remembered by Him no more

Only in stone the laws He wrote
That we might come to Him to live them
For in our strength we cannot boast
As what we see are the laws of heaven

He who writes in sand and stone
Is our loving, redeeming Savior
He perfectly did atone
That, with our God, we might find favor
