We Asked God to Leave us Alone

We asked God to leave us alone
And took Him out of our schools
Since then government has grown
Replacing Him with new rules

Now many reach out their hands
Seeking for government's help
While breaking what God commands
And suffering too with their health

One day... there was a distaster
Too big to comprehend
The government could not work faster
And many turned to God in the end

They asked, "How could you let this happen?"
There is destruction everywhere
He reminded they wouldn't have Him
And offered peace through their prayer

I got an email that turned out to be snopes.
But, this part said something to me:

Billy Graham's daughter was interviewed on the Early Show and Jane Clayson asked her 'How could God let something like this happen?' (regarding Hurricane Katrina).. Anne Graham gave an extremely profound and insightful response. She said, 'I believe God is deeply saddened by this, just as we are, but for years we've been telling God to get out of our schools, to get out of our government and to get out of our lives. And being the gentleman He is, I believe He has calmly backed out. How can we expect God to give us His blessing and His protection if we demand He leave us alone?'
