I Glory in Plainness

I glory in plainness
And in gospel truths
I glory in Jesus
For my soul He moves

In the pursuit of intelligence
With what should I fill my mind?
The hallmark of our existence
Is to increase in light.. ours to find

The hand of God can be seen
In all the fields of learning
If to Him one humbly leans
And to His Word we are turning

Pondering the 13th Article of Faith, Joseph Smith
James 1:5 and signing up for a BYU Independent Study class - a Citizen's Guide to American Politics- In the welcoming comments it states that while growing in knowledge, if we're honest and trustworthy- following the model of the Savior- we grow spiritually stronger, our character is developed, and our intelligence is enlarged.

2Nephi 31:3 For my soul delighteth in plainness; for after this manner doth the Lord God work among the children of men. For the Lord God giveth light unto the understanding; for he speaketh unto men according to their language, unto their understanding.

D&C 93: 36 The glory of God is intelligence, or, in other words, light and truth.

D&C 42: 68 Therefore, he that lacketh wisdom, let him ask of me, and I will give him liberally and upbraid him not.
JS-H 1: 11 While I was laboring under the extreme difficulties caused by the contests of these parties of religionists, I was one day reading the Epistle of James, first chapter and fifth verse, which reads: If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
