Receive the Holy Ghost

By authority, bestowed

So valuable, this gift

To teach us and uplift

So wondrous this companion

Consistent to rely on

In all ways we progress

When we obey and process

When invited, it inspires

According to our desires

If one is oft repentant

Warmth and light become more constant

Turn not away this voice

Still and small and choice

Open wide your heart

That heaven might impart

Let it soothe and whisper peace

That bad feelings might then cease

Let it speak unto your soul

This gift will make you whole

“For what doth it profit a man if a gift is bestowed upon him, and he receive not the gift? Behold, he rejoices not in that which is given unto him, neither rejoices in him who is the giver of the gift” (D&C 88:33).
