The Forgotten Man - Jon McNaughton
Against the background
Of a gloomy picture
A distraught man found
He'd no hope for his future
Blown by pollution
A paper danced by
It was the constitution
He heard claps midst an outcry
As behind him, he saw
Presidents of the past
Some came to console
Others came to gloat at the trash
George Washington, alone
Quickly reached low
"What have you now done?"
He wanted to know
The President, then smug
Looked far far away
Power, his drug
He'd gotten his way
The man... he must look up
Time is of the essence
He must say, "Enough!"
And reclaim man's existence
Freedom has a cost
Faith is required
All is not lost
Under God, he'll be inspired
