I Hear, But Do Not Listen

I hear, but do not listen
I speak, but say nothing
I see, yet I'm blind
I eat, but don't taste
I feel, yet I'm numb
I have a mind, but I cannot think
I have a past, I can't remember
I love days, but never show it
I'm trapped in my shell
And cannot break it
I am, yet I'm not
Who Am I?

The answer
You are a child of God
Through and through you are kind
In you there is nothing odd
May you know this and find peace of mind

And with a sense of rest
May you see all more clearly
Life bursts from your breast
As you define it more dearly
