Without any other motivation
But, a desire to be of one in heart
We let go of manipulation
So that healing within can then start
With total humility
And nothing held back
While searching for dignity
By not covering another's slack
We then pray for His grace
To help maintain our new life
Without shame there's much we can face
And it's easier to strive
And at the foremost is patience
As we press forward in Christ
We give much to show obedience
To learn more of His sacrifice
Our soul can fill with joy
That far exceeds the pain
There is so much to enjoy
There is so much to gain
Through total dependence
Without reservation
We allow consequence
Of our Lord's expectations
We believe more in God
And with faith, pray to Him
We hold to His rod
And sing praises in hymns
When we put, but God first
All else falls into place
What makes us our worst
Will drop out, now replaced!
The demands of our time
The interests we pursue
Ask we prioritize
And make changes for new
Having a remission of sins
Yields a sweet peace of conscience
Our joy in the Lord brims
And we treasure the experience
The Great Commandment—Love the Lord
Ezra Taft Benson
Our love of the Lord will govern the claims for our affection, the demands on our time, the interests we pursue, and the order of our priorities.
