2 Timothy 1:7

Christ brings immortality and eternal life through the gospel—Be strong in the faith.

1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus,
 To Timothy, my dearly beloved son: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.
 I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day;
 Greatly desiring to see thee, being mindful of thy tears, that I may be filled with joy;
 When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.
 Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.
 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
 Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;
 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,
 10 But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:
 11 Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles.
 12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
 13 Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
 14 That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us.

Life's True Light

Jesus is life and light for detection
He can dispel darkness and fear,
Provide assurance and direction,
And engender peace and good cheer
Two weeks ago, I slipped on the icy sidewalk and hit the back of my head.  I fell into a shockwave of darkness.  My neighbor saw me go down and fall into unconsciousness.  She went and knocked on my door to alert my family.  All I wanted to do is sleep and went in and out of consciousness.  After a trip to the hospital that proved I didn't break anything, I spent days throwing up and living in a dark room.  It amazed me how much light comes into a dark bedroom. It is weird to think of light causing nausea.  Another strange thing is I didn't want to listen to anything as that triggered images which uses the occipital lobe. I went off the grid and didn't use any electronics.  I realized how these sources of light have become a very large part of my life (out of balance, perhaps?), how strong their light is, and that simply texting could cause vomiting!
Before I hit my head, I would say my morning walks and writing poems were "my happiness".  This accident put new appreciation in my heart for love, family, and health. I couldn't wait to get back to enjoying the gospel and basking in the light of the gospel.  This will be a very simple mindful Christmas.
 I hope to get back to walking out in nature soon.  Instead of the dog, I hope to go with family.

The Light and the Life of the World

To this special assembly at the temple, two of the first words the Savior used to describe Himself were “the light.” Samuel predicted a sign of light. The sign of light was given at the Savior’s birth. For the people in the assembled multitude, terrible darkness and fear had been dissipated by the true light, even Jesus Christ.
The account of the first Christmas in the Book of Mormon helps us to learn and more fully understand that Jesus Christ is the “light which shineth in darkness” (see D&C 10:57–61). In every season of our lives, in all of the circumstances we may encounter, and in each challenge we may face, Jesus Christ is the light that dispels fear, provides assurance and direction, and engenders enduring peace and joy.

Plagerly

You like what you see
Yet, the great thoughts seem too good to be true
You go plagerly
And rats! You have to start all over too!

The search to see if someone has inadvertently used someone else's work without correct attribution.  This is useful for teachers and potential employers.

In Grandeur

In all His grandeur
He opened the door
To eternal light
Where all things are made right!
Here love becomes clear
Through scars seen as you near!
Lest someone forget
He ransomed all debt

Banish Fear

In your heart, let go of lasting fear
Follow the Lord who Lights the Way
Throughout the long calendar year,
There's peace because of Christmas Day

Fear Not

https://www.lds.org/broadcasts/article/christmas-devotional/2015/12/fear-not?lang=eng
The sweetest gift given at Christmas will always be the one our Savior Himself gave us: His perfect peace. He said: “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” (John 14:27). Even in a world where peace seems far off, the Savior’s gift of peace can live in our hearts regardless of our circumstances. If we accept the Savior’s invitation to follow Him, lasting fear is forever banished. Our future has been secured. These are the “good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.” “Fear thou not,” the prophet Isaiah reminded us, “for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness” (Isaiah 41:10).
Because of the Savior born two thousand years ago in Bethlehem, there is hope—and so much more. There is redemption, release, victory, and triumph. “The wrong shall fail, the right prevail” (“I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day,” Hymns, no. 214). No wonder a choir of angels suddenly appeared as a heavenly exclamation point to the angel’s announcement of the Savior’s birth, singing, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.” (Luke 2:14) No message could ever be more reassuring. No message was ever filled with more good will toward men.

Rock Cycle

On our Earth made of rock
The shadows and lights walk
On crusts of ice and heat
As pressure and stress greet

An old blow hole grew
As the core spins around
The mantle breaks through
And a new rock is found

It Nears

The emotions rush
And the eyes fill with tears
The spirit does touch
When invited, it nears
Softly you are blessed
As peace enters your mind
Too, it warms your breast
With God's love, sweet to find!

Testimony meeting was especially sweet because I was blessed with sufficient healing to come. I slipped on the icy sidewalk and had a concussion on Wednesday. My neighbor, Shawna saw it happen and went to my house to alert my family and I received so much love and care!

To Those Who Receive

 And I aseal up bthese records, after I have spoken a few words by way of exhortation unto you.
 Behold, I would exhort you that when ye shall read these things, if it be wisdom in God that ye should read them, that ye would remember how amerciful the Lord hath been unto the children of men, from the creation of Adam even down until the time that ye shall receive these things, andbponder it in your chearts.
 And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would aask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not btrue; and if ye shall ask with a csincere heart, with dreal intent, having efaith in Christ, he will fmanifest thegtruth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.
 And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may aknow the btruth of all things.
 And whatsoever thing is good is just and true; wherefore, nothing that is good denieth the Christ, but acknowledgeth that he is.
 And ye may aknow that he is, by the power of the Holy Ghost; wherefore I would exhort you that ye deny not the power of God; for he worketh by power,baccording to the faith of the children of men, the same today and tomorrow, and forever.
 And again, I exhort you, my brethren, that ye deny not the agifts of God, for they are many; and they come from the same God. And there are bdifferent ways that these gifts are administered; but it is the same God who worketh all in all; and they are given by the manifestations of thecSpirit of God unto men, to profit them.
 aFor behold, to one is given by the Spirit of God, that he may bteach the word of wisdom;
 10 And to another, that he may ateach the word of bknowledge by the same Spirit;
 11 And to another, exceedingly greatafaith; and to another, the gifts of bhealingby the same Spirit;
 12 And again, to another, that he may work mighty amiracles;
 13 And again, to another, that he may prophesy concerning all things;
 14 And again, to another, the beholding of angels and ministering spirits;
 15 And again, to another, all kinds of tongues;
 16 And again, to another, the interpretation of alanguages and of divers kinds of tongues.
 17 And all these gifts come by the Spirit of Christ; and they come unto every man severally, according as he will.
 18 And I would exhort you, my beloved brethren, that ye remember that aevery good bgift cometh of Christ.
 19 And I would exhort you, my beloved brethren, that ye remember that he is the asame yesterday, today, and forever, and that all these gifts of which I have spoken, which are spiritual, never will be done away, even as long as the world shall stand, only according to the bunbelief of the children of men.

Hold Fast

Hold fast to that pure rod
Which is sure to take you where you need to go.
It leads one straight to God
Where from His tree of life, love does freely grow!

Fiery darts will be seen
Your ears will hear of danger
Hold on, to the rod still lean
Press on and do not linger

1 Nephi 15:23, 24

23 And they said unto me: What meaneth the arod of iron which our father saw, that led to the tree?

24 And I said unto them that it was the aword of God; and whoso would hearken unto the word of God, and would bhold fast unto it, they would never perish; neither could the ctemptations and the fiery ddarts of the eadversary overpower them unto blindness, to lead them away to destruction.

Before Your Eyes

Before your eyes, keep the words of Christ.
Continually remember where light is found.
How you will profit as you do what's right!
All around you the love of God will abound

Mosiah 1

6... the sayings of our fathers from the time they left Jerusalem until now, and they are true; and we can know of their surety because we have them before our eyes.

7 And now, my sons, I would that ye should remember to asearch them diligently, that ye may profit thereby; and I would that ye should bkeep the commandments of God, that ye may cprosper in the land according to the dpromises which the Lord made unto our fathers.

Treasure Up the Words of Christ

Treasure up the words of Christ

Great blessings will come if you do.

You will be led to know what's right

And where life should be taking you

Doctrine and Covenants 84:
85 Neither take ye thought beforehand awhat ye shall say; but btreasure up in your minds continually the words of life, and it shall be cgiven you in the very hour that portion that shall be meted unto every man.

Feast Upon the Words of Christ

Feast upon the words of Christ
They inspire strength anew.
They fill you with truth and light
And spiritually guide you too!

“Feast upon the words of Christ; for behold, the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do” (2 Nephi 32:3).

I like the image of holding a fork and knife to an open Bible that is radiating light.

It’s Never Too Early and It’s Never Too Late

Parents, It's never too early or late To be what your children need Lay truths before them as you would a plate As in life's journey, you lead

https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2015/10/its-never-too-early-and-its-never-too-late?lang=eng&utm_campaign=Feed:%20lds-inspirational-messages-eng%20(Daily%20Messages)&utm_medium=email&utm_source=feedburner

It’s Never Too Early and It’s Never Too Late

Brothers and sisters, we are engaged in a battle with the world. In the past, the world competed for our children’s energy and time. Today, it fights for their identity and mind. Many loud and prominent voices are trying to define who our children are and what they should believe. We cannot let society give our family a makeover in the image of the world. We must win this battle. Everything depends on it.
The children of the Church sing a song that teaches them about their real identity: “I am a child of God. … He has sent me here, has given me an earthly home with parents.” Then, the children’s plea to us: “Lead me, guide me, walk beside me. … Help me to understand his words before it grows too late.”1
I know I can’t turn back time, but this I now know—that it’s never too early and it’s never too late to lead, guide, and walk beside our children, because families are forever.
It is my witness that our Heavenly Father loved us so much that He sent His Only Begotten Son to live the life of a mortal so that Jesus could say to us, “I’ve been where you are, I know what comes next, and I’ll help you through it.” I know He will. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
